One of my favorite summer knitting projects is SOCKS! Summer is the perfect time to knit socks for oh so many reasons: they're portable, they're quick, they are great "make ahead" gifts for the holidays, it's fun to experiment with all types of yarns and patternings at the expense of typically just a skein or two, and they present a wonderful opportunity to play with new patterns and new techniques (such as lace or color knitting) without the commitment of hundreds of stitches! And at the end of the day, SOMEBODY will always be able to enjoy a pair of lovely hand knitted socks! Bet you can't make just one pair, LOL, at Woolwinders, your neighborhood yarn shop!

  Thursday morning Safari Knitting Group Class member, RHONDA VAN DIEST, has done it! She finished her second ever pair of socks for her husband (the first pair were for her dad)! She even reinforced the heels and toes, way to go Rhonda! Socks are one of the most enjoyable things to knit in the summer months. They are light, portable, quick, ALWAYS useful, make GREAT GIFTS, and if you are traveling, sock yarn is one of the easiest and most economical ways to splurge while visiting other yarn stores while on vacation!
