One of my favorite summer knitting projects is SOCKS! Summer is the perfect time to knit socks for oh so many reasons: they're portable, they're quick, they are great "make ahead" gifts for the holidays, it's fun to experiment with all types of yarns and patternings at the expense of typically just a skein or two, and they present a wonderful opportunity to play with new patterns and new techniques (such as lace or color knitting) without the commitment of hundreds of stitches!
