WoolWinders has joined with other select yarn shops around the world as brand ambassadors for Rowan. We are honored to join forces with this well-known, iconic yarn brand. As a Flagship Store, we will have access to trunk shows, models, select yarns, and special events that will bring you the best in design and yarn options right here in Maryland!

Rowan is known for its classic pattern collections, created by prominent designers such as Kaffe Fassett, Kim Hargreaves and Martin Storey.  Last fall, well-known knitting icons Arne & Carlos joined Rowan’s offering of designers. The latest issue of Rowan Magazine, No. 64, celebrates both these collaborations and their “Ruby” 40th Anniversary with a collection of patterns designed by these and other Rowan favorites, all in shades of red.

Rowan Flagship Kickoff Event

To celebrate our new partnership with Rowan, WoolWinders be hosting a Rowan Flagship Trunk Show in our ROCKVILLE shop January 25th - February 3rd. The Trunk Show will feature many sample garments using iconic Rowan Designs and yarns. We'll also introduce Rowan's newest yarn, Moordale. There will be a special giveaway with purchase, raffle prizes from Rowan and much more!

A special presentation regarding the Rowan Flagship program will be given by Michael del Vecchio on Saturday, January 26th at 2pm at our ROCKVILLE shop.

Micheal will be here to meet you and introduce us to the wonderful world of Rowan!  You'll want to take this opportunity to hear all about Rowan's brand new yarn, Moordale, a premium blend of British wool and alpaca.

Amy Swanson, USA Operations Manager for June Cashmere, is returning to Woolwinders for a Cashmere & Chocolate trunk show. She will be on hand to discuss the production of this wonderful 100% cashmere from small family farms in the mountain communities of Kyrgyzstan. Find out why this cashmere is considered “heirloom quality” unlike your ordinary cashmere.

Woolwinders is happy to introduce 29 Bridges Studio to our local knitting community.  The yarn for 29 Bridges Studio is hand dyed right here in Maryland by local indie-dyer, Mary Herron.  Woolwinders worked directly with Mary to offer you some exclusive color pairings just for this trunk show!

Mary will be on hand at Woolwinders for portions of the Trunk Show.  Drop by to meet her and learn more about her dying process, the specialty yarns she selects, and the inspirations for her colors.

During the two weeks of the trunk show schedule, Mary will be available in the shop on the following dates:

Rowan Selects Denim Lace is sourced from recycled denim and spun into an incredibly lovely lace-weight yarn.  It's perfect for lightweight shawls, scarves and pullovers that have an old world feel. Rockville only. 

Rowan Softyak DK is a cotton and yak blend yarn with a chainette construction.  It has a gentle springiness that gives your garment a nice loftiness. Come see this yarn in both Annapolis and Rockville. 

A classic staple for any knitter - Rowan Kidsilk Haze is a versatile yarn made of 70% super kid mohair and 30% silk.  Use this yarn for all your classic shawls or hold with another yarn to give your project a warm halo effect.

West Yorkshire Spinners Wensleydale Fleece Gems is made with 100% Wensleydale wool from England.  This yarn has a gorgeous luster and subtle shine and works up nicely in textured patterns.  Rockville only.

West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite is made from British Falkland wool and Mulberry silk.  This soft lace weight yarn has a slight sheen from the silk content and produces a beautiful drape - perfect for shawls or lightweight cardigans.  Rockville only

Malabrigo Caracol is a newer yarn from one of our favorite yarn companies. This super bulky, kettle-dyed yarn is reminiscent of stained glass. With a binder thread wrapped around the gorgeous single ply of superwash Merino wool, this yarn has a unique visual texture in both the hank and in the finished fabric!

When working with Malabrigo Caracol, think warm winter accessories with simple stitch patterns. The beauty of this yarn keeps even endless stockinette stitch from seeming boring!

Zauberball Crazy has evolved! This yarn has two strands that have been dyed individually and then twisted together for a crazy combination. The end result is a self-striping, multi-colored pattern with a bold variegated design.
