Missing the larger projects? We have moved those to SATURDAY KNITALONGS. Check out that schedule as well. We begin each project the first Saturday of the Month and work on the project from 2-4 each successive Saturday.
March 2:Blanket Squares: Curious about cables? Longing to do lace? Planning an afghan for a graduation gift? Join us as we demonstrate several afghan patterns that can be sewn or crocheted together to make a gorgeous finished product. And we’ll even order the yarn you’ll need!
March 9:Self Fringed Shawl: Smell spring in the air? Get a jump on it with the perfect wrap for the cool weather. And wait until you create the fringe by dropping a bunch of stitches (deep breaths, everyone……)
March 16:Lace Anklet: Get ready for tennis (or at least tennis shoes) with these adorable lace anklets. Again, there is prep work for these, so be sure to check with the shop. This is a great way to learn lace knitting.
March 30:Coronet Hat (rescheduled from February): A lovely hat that will teach you to cable, kitchener stitch, and pick up stitches. One skein of Cascade 220 does the entire hat!
April 6:Reversible Lace Shawl: What a great way to learn lace—a nine stitch/two row repeat that creates a gorgeous lightweight shawl perfect for warmer days and evenings
April 13/20:Lacy Bamboo Shrug: Easy, quick and lovely. Can you ask for anything more? Five skeins of bamboo yarn and size 11 needles will make this lacy, openwork shrug perfect for spring and summer evenings.
April 27:Linen Stitch Tie: Is is knit? Is it woven? Find out while making this fantastic tie perfect for Father’s Day or your favorite grad! We made ours from one skein of Koigu but you can use any fingering weight yarn!
May 4:Easy Baby Booties: Looking for an inexpensive and charming baby gift? Check out these booties made from one skein of Koigu yarn. And they actually stay on the baby’s feet!

Our Saturday KALS have taken on a life of their own! Join the group for wine, snacks, and knitting your project each Saturday of the month. You don’t need to attend every session,but we do recommend that you attend the first week to get some basic instruction and guidance.

SUNDAY IN THE SALON UPDATE
We came in this morning to an email from Paige. If you are signed up for this week’s program, please read!
Participants should try to complete the first 4 inches of the bag BEFORE coming to the salon. I made 20 copies of the pattern this week so there should be plenty. The first four inches is simply knitting st st in the round (plus 1 row of basic eyelet) before we get to the Fair Isle patterning of the bag. I am assuming most people are going to need help with the Fair Isle part of the bag and that’s what they’re coming in for. If they don’t “knit ahead” they are going to be spending 2 hours knitting st st in the round or having to settle for making an FI swatch which isn’t what they want to do.
We do have plenty of the patterns, so come on in! If you want, just come at noon on Sunday and you can get the stockinette done prior to the start of the 2 PM program.

SUNDAY IN THE SALON
We are winding up our SUNDAYS IN THE SALON for 2007; only two more for the year. This week’s program, GIFT BAG, is filled. If you have signed up, please note a few things. First, although the bag is shown in FAIR ISLE, you do NOT need to do a stranded pattern. PAIGE, our resident Fair Isle expert, will be leading the program and will demonstrate the technique, but the two hour program is not a substitute for our Fair Isle class! That said, the materials required are: 200 yards of worsted weight yarn for the main color; 100 yards of contrast yarn, again worsted weight. Needles needed are 2 size 6 16” ones, plus a straight size 6 and a tapestry needle. We have gorgeous sample of the bag as well as plenty of yarn and needles for the project. The bag measures 8.5” × 11” when finished.
Next Sunday? Adorable and very quick SACHETS. The perfect last minute gifts. We have samples and openings; just give us a call.

GOODIES FROM ROWAN AND COLINETTE
Two big boxes today: ROWAN sent reorders of the extremely popular TAPESTRY and CASH SOFT ARAN yarns. And from COLINETTE, the exquisite JITTERBUG yarn. This fingering weight WASHABLE yarn is great for socks (there is even a free pattern in the label!) as well as kid’s sweaters. And we were careful to order it in colors NOT duplicated by KOIGU, so you can add to your color palette. We have a pattern book for the yarn as well. The eighteen new colors are exquisite! Give us a few hours to get them sorted, labelled and shelved. But trust us, these are worth coming out in the crummy weather. Drive carefully, ok???

A NEW MANOS!!!!
From the day we opened, MANOS DEL URUGUAY wool has been our best selling yarn. Their COTTON STRIA is also wonderful. Now, we present their brand-new, unbelievably luxurious MANOS SILK BLEND. This DK/light worsted yarn is produced in several of the Manos colorways you have come to know and love, but at a lighter weight and a bit softer due to the silk. How excited were we to get the color cards? Well, we called the lovely folks at FAIRMOUNT FIBERS (the distributor) and ordered EVERY COLOR. We were so early in our excitement that not every color is even available yet. So they sent us whatevery they had!!! 50 grams/150 yards for $12.99 tone-on-tone; $15.99 for the variegated. The pattern book should be here in a few weeks, but this 22-24st/4 inch yarn can be used for any sport/dk weight project. Get this yarn on your holiday wish list! You will be a trend setter.
