SPRING YARN BONANZA

We were gone for a few days to check up on the folks in Florida, and in our absence LOTS of great spring yarns arrived. Thanks to our wonderful staff: Adrian, Pat, Martha, Kim and Karina, most of it is already out on the shelves! So come see restocks of Schaefer Yarn's beautiful Pima Cotton Laurel yarn as well as her phenomenal one-of-a-kind afghan kits. And we took the plunge and ordered two heavily requested yarns: Crystal Palace's Cotton Chenille and Rowan Yarns CashSoft DK.

Cotton Chenille is a cozy, ultra soft chenille perfect for year round wear. Be aware, though, that this yarn, although bulky weight (3.5-4 stitches per inch) knits on a size SIX needle. Why? Because for chenille to look and feel as it should, it must be knit on a small needle. Big needles cause a reaction called "worming," whereby the yarn turns on itself and forms icky big loops! Knit Cotton Chenille as it should be and you will be in love with the final product.

Rowan CashSoft Baby DK is a much anticipated and much needed yarn. Comprised of cashmere, wool, and microfiber, this MACHINE WASHABLE yarn knits at the perfect DK gauge-5.5 stitches to the inch. Since we are phasing out our acrylic Sirdar yarn but love the patterns, this yarn will be perfect for those children's projects as well as any other project you can envision. We ordered, of course, every color.

And here is our report on Florida yarns. We stopped at a funky store in the Festival shops in Pompano. Fun novelty yarns abounded, and everyone was knitting scarves and ponchos. We fell in love with one brand, Great Adirondack Yarn, which we are now researching to order. Isn't it fun to scope out other stores????
