When the Cat is away...
the mice will play. Except when the computer acts up and then the mice run around in great disarray. After being rescued by one's tech savvy spouse, the rest of Sunday was spent knitting and admiring our customers' many projects: Faith's Manos of Uruguay Poncho (in progress), a variety of "in progress" purses from the kits by Bag Smith; and hoo-ing and ha-ing with Varda as she paged through "Knitting on the Edge". Overall, the first day of Jacqui's Alaskan vacation was very exciting here at Woolwinders.
Monday was almost as exciting: UPS brought us 14 (fourteen!) boxes. Lantern Moon came through with a large selection of their beautiful totes, bags, stands and project boxes. They sell quickly so if you have had your eye on one, come in soon to see us. Sorry, none of those lovely rosewood needles yet.
The Debbie Bliss Silk Alpaca has arrived! The luscious, soft yarn of 80% baby alpaca and 20% silk will knit up a wonderful something to keep you warm on even the coldest night. Most of it should be on the shelves tomorrow.
Day 2 of Jacqui's vacation and one can only hope for more days like this one and less like the unmentionable Sunday.

20 hours of daylight yesterday and we saw eagles, seals, harbor porpoises and bear scat. We are in the middle of paradise. Yesterday, intrepid Jacqui hiked up and down hills with broken foot; today we participate in the silver salmon run, reaching its peak this week. We've told the cook to get the wasabi and soy sauce mixed and that we like our fresh salmon rare. 10 other people will eat (or not) depending on our success!
So sorry about the computer; perhaps it is time to buy a new one. You guys are the best!
Jacqui and Lew
